Iran is prepared to restart atomic negotiations with Washington on condition that it is treated with "respect" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has announced.

The Iranian diplomat stated exclusively dialogue worked, and shared new appeals had been made by go-betweens to resume discussions with the American leadership. He claimed Iran did not have unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran could not yet allow the UN nuclear inspectorate to inspect bombed nuclear sites for security reasons.

Walking a Complex Route

Araghchi is treading a challenging route since Iran wishes not to be seen to be operating from a stance of disadvantage, and he emphatically stated that Iran had come out more powerful in military terms and emotionally from the Israeli-US attack on its atomic facilities in June.

He was talking at a security conference in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an absolute privilege to process nuclear material on home soil that it will never give up" – the primary cause of the impasse in the prior discussions.

Previous Talks Unexpectedly Concluded

The previous five rounds of talks between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and bitter termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with US support, targeted Tehran's atomic facilities in a fortnight-long engagement that ended with Donald Trump asserting the sites had been obliterated. Afterward, European countries employed their authority to reinstate global restrictions, but Iran insists they have not had a substantial consequence.

Perfect Agreement Proposed

Iranian officials claimed they felt they had achieved a "magic solution" to the nuclear fuel concern in prior discussions, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with American involvement could refine atomic fuel. Each party would have been able to assert triumph since domestic enrichment would have persisted and the US could be assured that Iran's atomic project was entirely non-military.

It had not been settled in the discussions that Washington's technical specialists could work on Iranian soil, but that was a reasonable assumption of the cooperative offer. Diplomats claimed on multiple occasions they had achieved a deal with the US representative the American negotiator only for the deal to collapse due to "spoilers in Washington".

Current Status

Tehran representatives said the consortium offer was now no longer available, but it seems very probable the proposal could be revived in certain ways if negotiations restart.

The American leader in recent days stated he had been getting signals that Iran desired to restart talks, but privately Tehran representatives say they are not yet receiving coherent offers from Washington either explicitly or from significant local go-betweens, such as the Qatari government, Egypt, Oman and the Saudi kingdom. In his address to the forum, intended to paint the US as a controlling nation that abuses the notion of worldwide standards, the foreign minister declared the fortnight-long engagement revealed the conflict could not be settled by military means. He said the attacks commenced with a American requirement for an unconditional Iranian surrender and concluded with an absolute demand for a halt to hostilities.

Iran is convinced the initial Israeli attacks were executed with full US knowledge and collaboration, making confidence difficult to reestablish.

Dialogue Remains the Ultimate Resolution

The foreign minister said: "Tehran was not the one that had deserted dialogue; it was the United States and the European states that had consistently attempted to dictate their desires during the negotiations. Diplomacy can still be viable and stays the primary answer to resolve disagreements, but its requirements, rules and fundamentals must be respected."

"Provided that they address to the citizens of Tehran with the language of dignity and honor, they will obtain a reply in the same approach."

Repair and Reconstruction
