19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional title, took control to force a final set.

He rescued 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
