I will dominate 'legitimate combatant' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to publicize the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Former two-time unified boxing king Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Fighter's Mentality

"I'm going to damage his features and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," Joshua, 35, said.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I will seriously aim to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

Despite those words, a calm Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically recognized for his showmanship - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Paul rather attacked former Joshua rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian declined a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, targeted UK rival Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"[Paul] is better than Fury - he showed up," Joshua said.

"I give him credit for that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of saying he intends to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to talk badly about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

However, the inexperienced fighter is still one of the sport's largest money-making draws, consistently making massive paydays.

Forecast and Belief

The 28 year old forecast a stoppage in rounds four or five and claimed he would derail the highly-expected match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly being planned for two years from now.

"It will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Physical Disparity

As the two fighters met for the customary confrontation, with their height and weight contrast on show, it drove home just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is really going ahead.
